Camp

On the 29 November to the 2 December, room six went on camp to Murchison. We slept in tents, we went to the Buller Gorge Swing bridge and on the comet line. We went rafting jet boating and so much more.

Here are some photos from when we were there.

Earthquake Poem

Gone

Scurrying around,
Loud and scary,
Tear drip down the victims faces.

The grey smoke vapors out of the ruins,
Red blood streams from everybody,
As they emerge from the rubble.

Screams come from the cold roads,
As the men exit the remains,
With the deceased bodies.

There were more tears than anyone could imagine,
There was more heartbreak than anyone wanted,
There were so many families ripped in two.

Their dads, sons, mothers, daughters, aunties and uncles gone,
Their family broken into a million pieces,
In a matter of seconds.

On this day we will remember,
The hero, the men and the women who risked their lives,
Too try and save the lives of others,
And to gather the bodies of others.

Harley Quinn Sketch

Here is a sketch I drew, it is of Harley Quinn.

Last night there was an earthquake located 15km south east of Hanmer Springs. Here is my screencastify about Ashleigh and my thoughts on the quake.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 3

Events that we have this term include the ASB netball and the Kapa Haka competition.

This term we have already written a piece of of writing using show don't tell, to describe a place or thing we did in the holidays. Here is mine.

Towering above me are so many different birds, hanging from the brick ceiling and in all directions are different displays. The dark rooms show what has happened in the past and what might happen in the future.

We walk past beautiful natural art and also stunning man made art, made with perfection. Lights positioned so precisely to make everything perfect. Moving from room to room we find so much interesting information. Exiting  with more knowledge than when we entered this building an hour prior.

If you think you know where I am leave it in the comments.

This is DLO about how the job of a dentist has changed through the years.

This is a story that Georgia and I have started on yesterday. She has also posted this on her blog. This is about a man at war and his wife, who was left at home.

To my dearest Ida

I have been in the trenches now for almost 2 months. Life is hard in the war everything is covered in mud, inches deep. The biscuits we get given are horrible we have to soak them in hot tea so we can get our teeth through them and I have not had a proper wash since I was home. When we arrived on the beach we we instantly greeted by gunfire and dead bodies. I will never be able to erase the image of dying troops out of my mind. The British army decided to make me the commander of the Wellington Infantry Battalion for the New Zealand expeditionary force and I am now fighting the British army to let my battalion advance at night time so that we have a better chance of survival. It is starting to get warmer so it is easier to fight without all of the heavy winter gear on. Send my love to the children.

I love you and miss you a lot.

Yours dearest William Malone

To My Dear William

I’m glad you  are being treated well .

Do you have any acquaintances yet?
Life is a struggle without you, the cows and chickens are always needing to be tended to and the washing seems to never end. Everyone is missing you my love and hope you shall come back to our home soon. The children are missing you immensely and the boys are helping with animal work. Apparently Mrs White’s son sadly passed away during his service in Egypt, but her other three sons are still fighting for our country. Over here in New Zealand we will be entering into winter soon.

The children send their love.

Love yours dearest Ida

BEDMAS - DLO

I have been learning about BEDMAS and how it works. Once I felt like I knew what it was and how it works I created a DLO on how to use it and how it works.

Area of a triangle.

Last week I were learning to work out the area of shapes that weren't squares or oblong. I found that it is the same as a square but once you work it out you half to half it because a triangle is half a square. At first it took me awhile to learn.

Phil's Feelings

Today we as a class read  the chapter: The Sunset Wall. After we listened we had to make a word find using feelings Phil had on his first competitive climb. We also had to look for words which were shown in the text and not told.

Rainbow Warrior

I read a book by the name of, My New Zealand Story Rainbow Warrior.
It was basically about a 13 year old girl writing her interpretation of what
happened in the year the Rainbow Warrior sunk but in a diary format.
Also if you don't know what the rainbow warrior was, it was boat that
sailed around the world trying to introduce world peace and protested
against nuclear testing and use.
I would recommend this book for someone around the age of 11 to 13
as some of the terms used could confuse younger people.
All and all  really enjoyed this book, it was probably one of my
 favourites I have read.

Nigal Latta documenty

A ccouple of nights ago I watch a Nigel Latta documenty about how much schools have changed and the new way of schooling benefits teacher and students.
Overall I found it very interesting and informative. You can watch the documenty at :www.tvnzondemand.co.nz
