Lighthouse Family

Here is part of the blurb on the back of the book.

"For Frances and her family, living on a lighthouse, the war is both far away and scarily close. There are rumours of submarines in the Pacific. Once I started reading the book I really enjoyed it and I would recommend this book to year 5 or 6 onwards

Change the Flag

In my mind I think that it is a great idea to change the current New Zealand flag because it has already been changed  in years past.

In my thoughts there is not one piece of the current flag that represents the Maori culture.

Yes I get that the ANZACs fought under it but the Maori’s have lived here longer than the European’s, so why do we have to have a flag that represents Europeans ?

I know some Maori’s want to keep the current flag but others want to change it because it doesn’t have any symbols of the Maori culture on it.

Also they have changed the New Zealand flag in the past.

What I don’t understand is that they have changed the flag in the past and they all had history at the time, like the first New Zealand flag, United Tribes Flag that a huge amount of history because it was the first New Zealand flag that the Europeans and Maori’s created together as the first national flag for New Zealand as a nation.

Another reason is that they have spent all this money why waste it.

Well they have already spent all this they may as well change it now because it would be a waste if they don’t and then people will winge about it.

This is why I believe that we should change the current New Zealand flag.

In my mind this a great toy that you can make at home for your pet, that doesn't cost much at all and best of all your rabbit is getting food and exercise.

This will intrigue your rabbits imagination and give a good dose of exercise every time it plays with it, great!

Also you can make this at home with your old loo paper rolls, some glue and your rabbit’s food, it is a great money saver.

This is wonderful toy is for you if you work because it means that you don’t have to spend loads of time with it.

So I think that this is a good toy for your fun loving rabbit.

When The Monster Came To Eat

I lay there asleep

as sound as a baby.

No worries in the world

no nothing, no maybes.

Next thing I knew,

the ground ripped open beneath my feet.

Thats when I knew,

the monster had come to eat.

My brother woke up

with a scream and a cry.

That treacherous night

no one should ever leave behind.

No love lost now

not yet, not how.

But I’ll never forget

the night the monster came to eat.

Yesterday was the most boring day all though we got my rabbit an outside cage and she went crazy, she rushed in and out. She was so happy.

Yesterday a nutritionist named Reta came to explain to us about healthy food choices and how to chose the best breakfast cereal. In the end we found out that rolled oats and week bix are the best everyday cereal. She also talked about how much sugar was in different drinks.

Men running into battle

Falling to the ground,

After that waiting to be found

Nurses helping the wounded 

to get back on their feet,

Missing their families

Women and children,

busy at home,

Working hard to keep them in a home,

Missing the men,

That once provided for them.

Toys come in many shapes and sizes.

There are many different toys like soft toys or toy car.

Toy cars are toys children can play with inside or outside.                                                                                

• Toy car are mainly played with by young children.                                                     
• They come in many different sizes and shapes                                              
• Some toy cars are made so children can sit in them.                                                    

Technology toys are more made for older children.

• They can made to make children feel like they have an ipad or phone.
• They are made for indoor use and are great for trips or rainy days
• They can be run by batteries or can be charged at the wall.

Soft toys are for inside use.

• Soft toys can be used by young children and older children.  
• Some can be off cartoons others can can just be plain stuffed animals.
• Some teddies play music or have lights

Toy can be used by young and older children alike.
