Men running into battle
Falling to the ground,
After that waiting to be found
Nurses helping the wounded
to get back on their feet,
Missing their families
Women and children,
busy at home,
Working hard to keep them in a home,
Missing the men,
That once provided for them.
Thanks for sharing your poem Zara. I like how you have made the contrast between men at war and those still left at home :) It would be good to another verse added at some stage.
ReplyDeletethank you
ReplyDeleteAnother verse would be a very good idea. It is a really good poem. The role of women in the war was significant, but changed from their normal lives so very considerably too. They began to do the jobs of the men. You should look up "we can do it" as wartime propaganda, which would give you an idea of what stared to happen. It gave the suffragette movement a huge shove forward in some ways.
